Concrete Batch Plant: Crushing, Loading & Hauling, and Sweeping—One Bobcat Does It All!

2026 06/03

Project Background:

At a large-scale concrete mixing plant, the daily task of cleaning up concrete waste spilled by pump trucks—as well as the slurry generated by dust suppression measures—typically requires a workforce of 6 to 10 laborers. These workers must manually shovel and transport larger waste particles to a designated recycling area, push slurry into a recovery tank, and continuously clear the drainage channels. However, due to prolonged sedimentation and solidification, these channels frequently become clogged, causing slurry to back up and resulting in highly ineffective cleaning outcomes.

Bobcat skid-steer loaders are compatible with a wide array of attachments, and Bobcat’s patented Bob-Tach™ quick-change system makes switching between these tools effortless. A single Bobcat skid-steer loader can fulfill multiple roles on a single job site—including breaking, scooping and hauling, and sweeping—handling every task with just one machine!

1. Breaking Operations

When equipped with a hydraulic breaker, a Bobcat skid-steer loader delivers an impact force equivalent to that of a 6–8-ton mini-excavator, offering an operational efficiency level significantly higher than that of a micro-excavator. The Bobcat’s compact dimensions and its exceptional ability to execute zero-radius turns (spinning in place) are key advantages. These features allow the machine to operate with high efficiency without obstructing the ingress and egress of concrete mixer trucks during loading—showcasing the Bobcat’s distinct strengths in rapidly and effectively completing construction tasks to achieve superior results.

2. Scooping and Hauling Operations

Thanks to the Bobcat Bob-Tach™ system, attachments can be swapped out in under two minutes. When fitted with a standard bucket, a Bobcat skid-steer loader can clean an area of up to 3,000 square meters per day—a workload equivalent to that of 100 manual laborers.

3. Sweeping Operations

The Bobcat enclosed sweeper attachment features a hydraulic drive system capable of sweeping in both forward and reverse directions. Its replaceable wear-resistant blades effectively dislodge and remove caked-on dirt, proving particularly effective at cleaning up slurry; once the sweeper’s hopper is full, the collected debris can be easily dumped at a designated disposal site.

Based on the analysis above, a single Bobcat skid-steer loader is capable of handling the entirety of the cleaning operations required at a concrete mixing plant. This approach not only simplifies site management but also effectively boosts operational efficiency while significantly reducing costs. Consequently, selecting the right equipment allows businesses to save money while achieving their desired operational outcomes—ultimately enabling equipment operators to generate greater financial returns.
