Bobcat Celebrates the "One Million Units" Milestone
The event featured both indoor and outdoor activities. Indoors, attendees watched a documentary on Bobcat’s history. Fifty-five years ago, Eddie Velo, a turkey farmer in North Dakota, USA, was struggling with the arduous task of manure removal. He approached engineers at Melroe (the predecessor to Bobcat) seeking a machine to lighten the workload in his poultry barns. Melroe engineers visited the farm to collaborate on a solution. Brothers Keller and Cyril soon transformed a three-wheeled cleaning cart into a revolutionary new product—the prototype of the Bobcat skid-steer loader—which delighted the farmer. This design eventually evolved into the four-wheeled skid-steer loader seen today. This compact, agile, and multifunctional equipment was subsequently adopted across a wide range of agricultural and livestock operations, including dairy, beef, pig, sheep, layer hen, broiler, and horse farms.
Following the presentation on Bobcat’s history, staff provided a detailed overview of the features and capabilities of Bobcat products across various sectors.
Next, an engaging outdoor demonstration and interactive session took place. Professional operators piloted Bobcat loaders to showcase the products' versatility, advanced technology, and reliability. A special "guest" also made an appearance: the Bobcat autonomous loader—the world's only unmanned loader. The creation of this remarkable machine embodies Bobcat’s spirit of vitality and enterprising drive; through continuous innovation and a passion for transformation, the brand unleashes its potent, agile potential, leading the development and evolution of the global compact equipment industry. For over 55 years, Bobcat has consistently maintained a position of global leadership in the industry.
